How I did it and kept up the momentum…If you’re anything like me, expressing creatively is what keeps me alive. It only made sense to pursue creative ventures. I had started working for other people when I was 16 and I didn’t launch my business until I was 33 and now I wish I had done it sooner. I also believe in divine timing and the mere fact that I had some more shit to work through.
Branding is your foundation and more as a business. It creates the personality for how your business exists. It tells the world your mood and style. Branding should not be taken lightly or done as a small investment. Your brand needs to be timeless, tells a story and communicates.
If you’re wondering how I became known for murals it came down to putting myself out there in a lot of big and uncomfortable ways. I started painting murals and signs in 2002 and luckily held tight to doing this work. Not only do I have years of experience but signs and murals are one of the most popular reasons I’m hired.
Let’s face it, business costs can be high. As an entrepreneur I know this can be extremely overwhelming. Many people make decisions in business that will take them less time and cost the least. But, there are a load of cons to working from that mindset as a business owner. It doesn’t matter what size your business is.
I’ve had a lot of experience using various cameras and taking photos but weddings used to intimidate me. I have experience photographing weddings from about 4 years ago but I never took it seriously. I wasn’t stepping into my creativity and power and feeling a lack of confidence. Weddings are such a large day and there are so many moments to capture it can be scary. I’ve read many blog posts and looked at a ton of great photographers sites and social platforms in order to understand what it looks like to capture this day. I’ve always felt experience is the best way to learn but I hadn’t put myself out there in a big way yet.
For the past couple months I’ve been working with the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation. This foundation provides support to families who are dealing with Spinal Muscular Atrophy as well as funds research that led to a treatment and a groundbreaking potential cure for SMA.
I was an artist first and dreamed of design since my early 20s. I finally went to school for design after an accident that left me immobile for a while. I never went to work for a firm or agency. I knew I needed the hold the keys to my freedom in this career choice.
The path of the creative.
Why did I choose it?
Well, I didn’t actually… it chose me.
